Schedule: Part-time, flexible
Agency Overview: Golden House, Inc. is dedicated to providing support and resources for individuals affected by domestic violence. Our mission is to provide safety and support for victims of domestic abuse while leading efforts to end domestic violence in our community.
Position Summary: The Communications and Special Events internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the field of domestic violence and support services. Interns will work closely with our communications and fundraising team to assist with special events, marketing, outreach efforts, and administrative tasks while learning about the complexities of domestic violence issues. This position will offer the ability to learn about communications, fundraising (special events) and marketing in a non profit setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the planning and execution of our signature event, Show of Strength.
- Participate in the creation and execution of Domestic Violence Awareness Month activities.
- Assist with social media and content creation including educational materials.
- Prepare emails, mailings, and information packets for dissemination.
- Conduct outreach to community organizations and stakeholders to raise awareness about domestic violence.
- Provide administrative support, including data entry, filing, and organizing resources.
- Attend team meetings and training sessions to enhance understanding of domestic violence issues.
- Engage in research projects related to domestic violence trends and resources.
- Engage in community resource events and networking.
Qualifications:
- Current enrollment in a relevant degree program (e.g., Communications, Public Administration, Social Work, Psychology, Public Health, Gender Studies).
- Strong interest in communications and fundraising for survivors of domestic violence.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Compassionate, empathetic, and non-judgmental approach to sensitive issues.
- Proficiency in Google and familiarity with social media platforms.
