The Company
Bay Area Workforce Development Board is a nonprofit agency administering workforce development programs in an 11-county region of northeast Wisconsin through contracts with service provider agencies. The board of directors sets broad strategies to align worker skills with business needs and is connected to a large network of stakeholders. Staff leads the development of partnerships and collaborative relationships to achieve strategic goals.
Position Summary
The Industry & Engagement Intern will gain hands-on experience in workforce development, employer engagement, event coordination, and data analysis. This internship is ideal for a college student interested in business, communications, workforce development, economic development, or related fields. The intern will assist with event planning, employer outreach, research projects, and content development while working alongside industry professionals to support workforce initiatives in Northeast Wisconsin.
Duties and Responsibilities
Project & Event Coordination:
- Assist in planning and executing workforce-related events, employer roundtables, and industry conferences including Winning with Wisconsin, TDCON, Business Services Meetings, Job Fairs, etc.
- Support event logistics, scheduling, outreach, and follow-up communications.
- Help develop materials and presentations for workforce-related initiatives within Region.
Research & Data Analysis:
- Conduct research on labor market trends and workforce needs.
- Compile and interpret data to support employer engagement strategies.
- Assist in creating reports and presentations based on research findings.
Employer & Community Engagement:
- Support outreach efforts to connect with businesses and workforce stakeholders.
- Help track and maintain employer engagement records.
- Assist in drafting communications and outreach materials.
Content Development & Communication:
- Help develop content for presentations, newsletters, and employer-facing materials.
- Assist in preparing materials for workforce development speaking engagements.
- Support marketing and communication strategies for workforce initiatives.
Rapid Response Events:
- Assisting and supporting Rapid Response events for workers impacted by layoffs or business closures to ensure effective service delivery.
- Help prepare and distribute informational materials to affected workers regarding available workforce programs, training opportunities, and job placement services.
- Attend Rapid Response sessions to observe and assist with event logistics, sign-ins, and follow-ups.
Grant Support:
- Track and maintain records of participation, training outcomes, and grant-related documentation.
- Help prepare reports summarizing program impact, including training completion rates and skill development outcomes.
- Support outreach efforts available through workforce development programs.
Other Duties:
- Attend meetings and trainings as required.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Strong interest in workforce development, economic development, employer engagement, and event coordination.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a professional setting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Relationship
The Industry and Engagement Intern is a paid, part-time, internship (up to #10 hours a week) with Bay Area Workforce Development Board reporting to the Director of Industry and Engagement.
