Teacher - Parent Education

Description:  To inspire and prepare each and every student with the confidence, courage, and competence to achieve their dreams; contribute to community; and engage in a lifetime of learning.

Responsibilities and tasks include:

 

  • Implement parent education through home visits and classes in the Early Childhood Family Education program.
  • Design and implement lessons that fit within the program's alignment with the MN Parent Education Core Curriculum Framework.
  • Teach as a member of a home visiting team and classroom team to include a Children's Teacher, Educational Support Professional (ESP) and possibly Early Childhood Special Education staff.
  • Maintain consistent communication with parents in order to support their development as a parent and their ability to support the development of their child.
  • Seek out and gather resources to support families as needed.
  • Maintain attractive and appropriate adult-learning environment.
  • Provide leadership and work direction for ESP.
  • Attend and contribute to program staff meetings and training.
  • Participate in parent education curriculum development.

Classroom Teacher

Minimum qualifications include: 

 

  • Bachelors Degree required.
  • MN teaching license in Parent and Family Education,  OR a valid MN teaching license in another field and willing to obtain an Out of Field Permission.*
  • If not currently licensed, must be willing and eligible to apply for and receive a Tier 1 or 2.*

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Language skills in Spanish, Somali, Hmong, and/or Vietnamese
  • Teaching license in both Parent Education and Early Childhood preferred.
  • Experience working with highly diverse populations
  • Experience working with families of low socio-economic status
  • Experience working with families with no or limited group experiences

 




Salary:  View salary grid on Pages 51 - 52 of the teacher’s contract Education Minnesota Osseo 
FTE: 1.0 FTE
Work Schedule: 170 days/year - Stretch Calendar - up to 25 days over June, July & August depending on program needs. This is a home-visiting position.  Additional duties may include ECFE classes, early childhood screening, and program outreach. Position includes one evening/week and one Saturday per session.
