$31.88 - $51.01 Hourly

$66,312 - $106,099 Annually

MISSION: Optimize the health, development, education, and well-being of babies, toddlers, and preschoolers through a family-driven, equitable, community-based system of high-quality prenatal and early childhood programs and services.

The Early Childhood Education and Care Department was established on July 1, 2020. The Department's aim is to create a more cohesive, equitable, and effective early childhood system in New Mexico. That means coordinating a continuum of programs from prenatal to five and ensuring that families in every corner of the state can access the services they need.

Why does the job exist?

 

This position exists to designate priorities for the monitoring and support of NM PreK Providers. Coordinate the planning and development of technical assistance and training activities to include the support of content development and facilitation of trainings through the contracted consultant partnership. Monitor culturally-responsive practices and approaches to ensure meaningful, effective and quality center based child care practices are being provided NM PreK programs.

How does it get done?

 

This position is responsible for the provision of feedback and guidance to PreK Contractors and Grant Awardees to ensure ongoing compliance in meeting all of the requirements of the New Mexico PreK Program Standards, and will have knowledge and experience related to Quality Rating and Improvement Systems (QRIS). The position will participate in strategic planning, development and implementation of a statewide system of care for children in early childhood programs while also representing the department as a specialist to Early Childhood community based agencies. This position will also be responsible for other duties as assigned.

Ideal Candidate

 

The ideal candidate will have experience in early childhood services working with children and families from diverse cultural and economic backgrounds. Experience in training and technical assistance in early care and education and strong consultation, communication, presentation and facilitation skills. Maintain update knowledge of current child development practices. Understanding of the diversity of New Mexico communities.

Minimum Qualification

 

Bachelor's degree in Education, Public Administration or Business Administration and five (5) years of experience as a teacher and/or program administrator. Substitutions apply. See Substitution Table below.

Employment Requirements

 

Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License. Pre-employment background investigation is required and is conditional pending results.

Working Conditions

 

Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Some sitting, standing, bending and reaching may be required. Some occasional travel is required for meetings and conferences.
