Water Plant Operator

Summary of Position

The Water Plant Operator runs the equipment, control the processes, and monitors the plant that treats the water. Maintains the water treatment plant systems in order to ensure that residents have safe and clean water in accordance with federal, territorial and municipal legislation, policies and standards.

Salary range will vary depending upon the successful applicant's Water Treatment Operator certification level and experience.
Level I: $46,256.23 - $52,038.26
Level II: $48,597.95 - $54,672.70
Level III: $51,058.23 - $57,440.50
Level IV: $53,643.06 - $60,348.43

Minimum Qualifications

  • Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with completion of specialized training in the field of work, in addition to basic skills typically associated with a high school education.
  • Three years related experience or post-secondary education in water, wastewater, power, or process technology (Must provide documentation of certificates/degrees).
  • Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s license issued by the State of North Dakota for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.

Special Requirements:

The ability to obtain a North Dakota Water Treatment Plant Certification. If applicant is granted an interview, a resume, certifications, licenses, must be uploaded with the application or a hard copy made available to the interview panel at the time of the interview.
