ODNR owns and manages state parks, state forests, state nature preserves and wildlife areas. We license all hunting, fishing and watercraft; oversee and permit all mineral extraction, monitor dam safety, manage water resources and serve as the second largest Law Enforcement presence in the State of Ohio.

What you will do…

  • Acts as staff specialist in dam safety & water resources engineering;
  • Serves as Dam Tender and is responsible for ensuring compliance with all state, federal and local compliance requirements across all division properties;
  • Coordinates with other ODNR divisions and ensures proper training of staff and operation of dams;
  • Tracks, monitors, inspects, reports and evaluates all dams and related equipment;
  • Starting hourly pay of $35.74/hr. with multiple pay increases over your first 6.5 years of service, with an end salary of $51.03/hr.

TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT REQUIRED TO REMAIN IN THE CLASSIFICATION AFTER EMPLOYMENT:  Renewal of certificate of registration as professional engineer as prescribed by law.

UNUSUAL WORKING CONDITIONS: May be exposed to inclement weather & unsafe conditions during inspection of projects to include walking long and short 
distances, climbing & navigating rough terrain, steep slopes & embankments & spillways & ladders while carrying needed 
equipment.

Qualifications

 

Certificate of registration as professional engineer issued by State Licensing Board; 12 mos. exp. as Natural Resources Engineer 2, 85742 or 12 mos. equivalent related engineering experience.

-Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above may be substituted for the experience required, but not for the mandated licensure.
