Digital Learning Specialist

Orono Public Schools seeks a visionary and dynamic Digital Learning Specialist for our secondary schools. Under the guidance of the District Technology Coordinator, this specialist will play a pivotal role in the integration and ethical use of technology to enhance teaching and learning. The ideal candidate will embody the principles outlined in the ISTE Standards, fostering an environment of collaborative innovation, digital citizenship, and personalized learning to empower student success.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Leadership and Collaboration: Support and promote a culture of innovation and continuous improvement in technology integration. Collaborate with stakeholders to develop strategies that align with the ISTE Standards for Educators and Students, enhancing educational equity and access through technology.
  • Professional Development: Design and deliver comprehensive professional development programs focused on the ethical use of digital resources, innovative pedagogies, and technology integration strategies. Support educators in meeting the ISTE Standards for Educators, facilitating professional growth and instructional excellence.
  • Curriculum and Instruction Support: Partner with curriculum leaders to incorporate digital tools and resources that align with academic standards and ISTE Standards, optimizing student learning experiences. Provide expertise in digital curriculum development and assessment, ensuring a cohesive technology-enhanced learning environment.
  • Digital Citizenship and Safety: Advocate for responsible digital citizenship among students and staff. Guide the school community in understanding and adhering to digital safety, privacy laws (FERPA, COPPA), and ethical considerations in digital learning spaces.
  • Technology Integration: Evaluate, recommend, and support the implementation of emerging educational technologies. Ensure that technology integration enhances instructional practices, supports personalized learning, and drives student achievement in alignment with the district's vision and goals.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Valid Minnesota licensure as a secondary classroom teacher.
  • Deep understanding of instructional strategies and technology's role in secondary education.
  • Experience in curriculum design, assessment, and integration of digital tools and resources.
  • Proficiency in leveraging educational technologies to foster an inclusive and equitable learning environment.
  • Exceptional collaboration, communication, and project management skills.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5 years of classroom teaching experience
  • Advanced degree in education, educational technology, or a related field.
  • Experience in leading technology integration initiatives and professional learning communities.
  • Demonstrated ability to navigate student privacy laws and ethical considerations in digital education.
