Speech/Language Pathologist- Itinerant

Job Description

Cooperative Educational Service Agency (CESA) #12 is seeking an energetic, skilled individual for the position of Speech/Language Pathologist.  We are looking for an educational leader who is ready to serve a diverse, rural northern Wisconsin learning community. The candidate of choice will have demonstrated skill in providing a full range of instructional and learning supports to students with speech and language difficulties that help to maximize student achievement, college and career readiness and social emotional development, as well as strong communication skills with students, staff, parents, and community.

CESA #12 provides cooperative services to 17 school districts across the northwestern corner of Wisconsin, impacting approximately 14,000 students in pre-kindergarten through twelfth grade.  The CESA #12 office is located in Ashland, WI, on the shores of the Chequamegon Bay of Lake Superior.  The area provides a wealth of opportunities for outdoor recreational activities in a beautiful setting.

Qualifications

A successful candidate should demonstrate skill at identifying and providing services to students who have communication disorders in the areas of understanding and expressing language (relative to vocabulary, grammatical rule structures, and functional use of language) as well as the development of speech sounds, appropriate voice quality and fluency. Applicants must demonstrate understanding of school-based practices and know how to support school teams in understanding the link between language and curriculum. In addition, knowledge of special education program requirements (Federal, State and Local) and age appropriate evidence-based instructional methods, and the ability to collaborate with a variety of collaborative educational partners is expected.

Requirements

Qualified applicants must have a Master’s Degree (M.A.) in Communicative Sciences and Disorders from a school accredited by the American Speech/Hearing Association and Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction License #820, or the ability to obtain one.  Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) is preferred.  School based therapy experience is also preferred.  This position will serve multiple school districts, so the applicant must have a valid driver’s license.  The ability to work efficiently is a must.
