Graduate Intern - Career Planning & Professional Connections

Position Summary Statement

The Career Planning & Professional Connections Team at UW-Green Bay assists students in finding career success. The office guides students in exploring major and career options and helps students develop professional skills related to resume and cover letter writing, interviewing, and etiquette. The team coordinates workshops, job fairs, and other networking events.

Job Duties:

·        Conduct in-person and virtual appointments with current students for resume and cover letter critiques

·        Assist students with practicing interview questions during appointments

·        Work with staff to build and post social media content

·        Assist staff with planning and delivery of events throughout the semester

·        Utilize Handshake to see current internship and job openings and event sign-ups; educate students on how to utilize Handshake

·        Assist with entering information into Handshake

·        Other duties as assigned

With job duties varying daily, the position calls for a highly organized, flexible, and self-directed individual.

Hours: Maximum of 20 hours per week, On-campus position from July to December

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

Required

• Currently pursuing a master’s degree

• Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication, and customer service skills in working with a diverse community.

• Power-user for desktop standard business software programs (e.g. word processing, spreadsheets, database) and the Internet-based software.

• Exceptional attention to detail and proofreading.

• Work independently and as part of a team environment towards collaborative efforts.

Preferred

• Proficiency in speaking and reading in a second language, preferably Spanish, Hmong, Somali, or Oneida

Physical Demands

1. Physical ability to sit at a computer terminal for extended periods of time, Moderate amounts of walking, standing, and stair climbing; occasional lifting of supplies up to 10 lbs.
