Position Overview

The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services is seeking an organized, professional, and results oriented individual to serve as Staff Assistant for the Deputy Director of Intact Family Services. Under general direction, this position will provide input into the planning, development, and implementation of policies and programs, often involving sensitive and controversial issues which have a direct impact on the agency. The position will advise the Deputy Director of the feasibility and impact of proposed procedures and operations and identify concerns, issues, and trends. This position will also serve as liaison between the Deputy Director and professional and support staff. The position will also conduct special projects and manage the distribution of the Deputy Director’s incoming mail. Job Responsibilites

1. Serves as Staff Assistant to the Deputy Director of Intact Family Services

2. Serves as liaison between the Deputy Director and professional and support staff, and performs liaison work between agencies and representatives of private organizations

3. Conducts special projects related to division programs which require interaction with executive and administrative staff, community service providers, elected officials and the general public

4. Manages the distribution of the Deputy Director’s incoming mail

5. Researches, gathers detailed information, analyzes information, and prepares responses to communications on behalf of the Deputy Director

6. Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above

Minimum Qualifications

1. Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four years of college, preferably with courses in public or business administration
2. Requires two years of professional experience in a public or private organization

Preferred Qualifications

1. 3 years of experience serving as an administrative assistant in a public or business organization
2. 3 years of professional experience serving in a liaison capacity for a public or business organization
3. 3 years of professional experience conducting research and carrying out special assignments requiring the development or interpretation of programs and procedures in a public or business organization
