Resource/Communication Specialist

Position Summary   

This position is responsible for gathering, organizing, maintaining, and communicating accurate information about public and private resources available within Barron and Rusk County region for the Aging and Disability Resource Center (ADRC). This position works for the multi-county ADRC and will travel to and from Rusk County.  

 

Essential Functions   

The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each duty satisfactorily. Other duties may be required and assigned. 

 

  1. Assists with creating and editing written and electronic marketing materials outlining the programs and services offered through the ADRC. 
  2. Organizes and maintains all resource information in a variety of formats – files, brochure racks, displays, website, computer database, printed directories, handouts, etc.  
  3. Contacts local resources to collect and update information on available resources.  
  4. Disseminates marketing information in a variety of formats such as; radio, website, newspapers, print material and social media sites. 
  5. Maintains and update the regional ADRC website and other social media platforms in accordance with County policy. Ensures there are no accessibility barriers that prevent interaction with or access to the ADRC website by people with disabilities.  
  6. Organizes, edit and provide content for monthly newsletters in each county. Works with internal staff and vendor on layout and production of the newsletters. 
  7. Provides updates as needed to regional management team and governing bodies. 
  8. Maintains regional brand identity in accordance with state guidelines. 
  9. Provides backup to other staff as needed. 
  10. Other duties as assigned. 

  

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities 

  • Creativity and knowledge of design concepts for creating communication materials such as brochures, flyers, displays, etc. 
  • Knowledge of community resources and effective marketing strategies. 
  • Knowledge of administrative policies and procedures of the County.  
  • Knowledge of current office practices and procedures and knowledge of the operation of standard office equipment and software.  
  • Ability to establish and maintain accurate records of assigned activities and operations.  
  • Ability to interpret and implement local policies and procedures; written instructions, general correspondence; Federal, State, and local regulations.   
  • Skill in organizational and time management to prioritize duties to accomplish a high volume of work product while adapting to constant changes in priority.  
  • Ability to perform detailed work accurately and independently in compliance with stringent time limits with minimal direction and supervision.  
  • Ability to think quickly, maintain self-control, and adapt to stressful situations.  
  • Knowledge of computer software including word processing, spreadsheet and database applications consistent for this position.  
  • Ability to understand and effectively carry out verbal and written instructions.  
  • Ability to apply sound judgment and discretion in performing duties, resolving problems and interpreting policies and regulations.  
  • Ability to communicate detailed and often sensitive information effectively and concisely, both orally and in writing.  
  • Ability to handle sensitive interpersonal situations calmly and tactfully.  
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with individuals within and outside the organization.  
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion regarding business-related files, reports and conversations, within the provision of open records laws.  
  • Ability to work the allocated hours of the position and respond after hours as needed.  

 

 Required Education, Experience, Licensing, and Certifications 

  • Associates degree in marketing, communications, graphic design, business administration or related field and five (5) years’ related work experience; or an equivalent combination of education/experience may be considered. 
  • Experience in consumer education and/or marketing preferred. 
  • Must successfully pass caregiver and criminal background check.

  • Work is generally in a moderately noisy office setting (e.g. business office, light traffic).
