Project Engineer

Work is assigned by the supervisor at a level commensurate of the applicants skill level and knowledge. Designs complex public works projects and develops related plans, specifications, estimates, and schedules. Supervises and directs public works projects through completion; meets with contractors to discuss projects; reviews projects upon completion. Observes ongoing construction projects to ensure compliance with specifications, standards, and safety practices. Responds to the concerns of residents, contractors, developers, other city departments, and other government agencies. Performs project management duties. Compiles and prepares budgetary documents. Monitors and evaluates public works utilities to develop or complete maintenance schedules and master plans. Reviews consultant engineering firm plans and specifications for compliance with city standards. Performs related duties.

Graduate or EI Engineer Salary Range $75,796.22 - $85,270.76 DOE
PE Engineer Salary Range $83,664.85 - $ 94,122.95 DOE

Minimum Qualifications

  • Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of a baccalaureate degree in a course of study related to the occupational field.
  • Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for zero to three years.
  • Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s license issued by the State of North Dakota for the type of vehicle or equipment operated. Possession of or ability to readily obtain certification as an Engineering Intern or Professional Engineer in the State of North Dakota.
