We are looking for a dynamic, organized self-starter to join our Product Support and Logistics Division as a Part Time Intern in Menominee, MI.
The Product Support and Logistics Division (PSLD) is one of the most innovative divisions within Caterpillar. PSLD is responsible for Aftermarket Parts Distribution of Cat Parts, Integrated Logistics, segment Procurement and the design and manufacture of Wear Components (Undercarriage and Ground Engaging Tools) and Maintenance Components (Seals, Tubes & Hardware, Hose & Couplings, Fluids and Filters).

As a Part Time Intern, you will work independently or as part of a team focusing on improvements in specific areas of the Caterpillar Quality Management System, CQMS. These areas may include scrap reduction, document control, and data collection and monitoring of processes. You will also assist in addressing improvements for manufacturing processing, tool design, equipment layout and standards development.
Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
- Work collaboratively with the manufacturing engineering or quality team on assignments related to new equipment introductions, continues improvements, etc.
- Analysis of product, processes, and technologies to shape best methods.
- Manufacturing process troubleshooting and problem solving.
- Shop floor layout revisions using CAD software.
- Design and procurement of fixtures, tooling, or station layouts
- Analyzing production and quality data
- Implementation of employee submitted Continuous Improvement ideas for manufacturing.
- Creation and maintenance of manufacturing work instruction documents
Internship Qualifications:
- Must be enrolled full time at a 2 or 4-year university/college in one of the following degree programs: Engineering Management, Industrial Engineering/Technology, Industrial Distribution, Manufacturing Engineering/Technology, Manufacturing Systems, Mechanical Engineering/Technology, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electrical or General Engineering
- Minimum 2.8/4.0 Cumulative Grade Point Average (no rounding) at current institution
- Expected graduation date of December 2024 or later.
- Applicant must be within a daily commute driving distance to the facility in which they will be working (Menominee, MI).
- Must be able to work full-time (40 hours per week) during the summer. There may be the potential to work through the school year (15-20 hours per week).
Top Candidates will also have:
- Leadership experience (either leading teams or projects)
- Previous technical internship, co-op, or research/relevant experience
- Highly proficient written and verbal communication skills
Additional Information:
This position does not offer relocation.
This position requires 10% or less travel.
Start date for this position will be summer 2024.
