Introduction
The Wisconsin Department of Children and Families (DCF), Division of Management Services (DMS), Administrator’s Office (AO), Agency Operations Section is currently recruiting to fill a Facilities Manager position. This position may allow hybrid work for a portion of the work schedule up to 80% depending on the employee’s preference and needs of the work unit. Any hybrid work flexibility that may be available will be discussed in more detail in the interview process.
For positions that do allow hybrid work flexibility, employees may need to report to a DCF office location on short notice. There is no mileage reimbursement when traveling to the headquarter location. Our DCF locations are in the following cities: Madison, Milwaukee, Green Bay, Eau Claire, and Rhinelander. Employees need to report to the 201 W. Washington Ave. Madison, WI office or the 635 N 26 St. Milwaukee, WI office on their first day for onboarding and orientation.

Position Summary
This position is responsible, under the general supervision of the Agency Operations Manager, for managing the Department of Children and Families facilities impacting over 1000 state staff and contracted staff at it’s10 locations.
The incumbent in this position works independently resolving facility, tenant, and customer access issues as they arise, involving appropriate management staff as the incumbent determines appropriate given the issue at hand.

Salary Information
The classification title for this position is a Facilities Management Specialist 1. The starting salary is between $20.24 and $33.00 per hour ($42,099 and $68,640 annually), depending on qualifications. Pay for current State of WI employees will be based on the compensation plan in effect at the time of the appointment. The pay schedule/range is 07-04. A one-year probationary period may be required.
Job Details
Due to the nature of the position, final candidates may be required to allow DCF to conduct a security background check to determine whether the circumstances of any pending charges or convictions would be substantially related to the job being filled.
Applicants must be legally entitled to work in the United States (i.e., a citizen or national of the U.S., a lawful permanent resident, an alien authorized to work in the U.S. without DCF sponsorship.) The Department of Children and Families does not sponsor visas, either at time of hire or at any later time.
Qualifications
Minimally qualified applicants will have:
- Experience managing multiple and sometimes conflicting priorities to accomplish the goals and timelines of multiple projects.
- Experience working with project management techniques and skill in directing project management processes (Coordinating several projects, meeting deadlines, and communicating processes and timelines)
- Experience working with Microsoft office Suite including Access databases, Word, and Outlook. (Entering and sorting data for reports in access, replying and sending emails in outlook, creating documents, and using track changes in word documents.)
- Experience negotiating with various third parties to accomplish project tasks or goals
Well-qualified applicants will have:
- Experience working with computer aided drafting and design software (ACAD) and architectural, construction and interior design principles and practices, ergonomic applications, and practices.
- Experience establishing priorities and managing work assignments to meet deadlines.
- Experience working with space management policies and procedures. (Allocating plans and implementing plans within Department of Administration standards)
- Experience working with modern office methods and procedures. (Providing flexible working options for hybrid work, collaboration spaces, and systems furniture)
- Experience organizing and leading the planning and implementation for physical moves in all leased space.
