TV Entertainment Analytics and Research Internships - Summer 2024

In addition to all of our internships being paid, we will also offer the following for our Summer 2024 interns:   

  • Paid company holidays for full-time interns.
  • Robust networking, learning and development opportunities.
  • Financial assistance to offset expenses for transportation and housing may be available on a needs-based basis for eligible in-person interns. More details about eligibility for this assistance will be provided at the time of offer.

 

Summer 2024 Recruitment Timeline:   

November 13 – December 8: Applications Open (may close early due to applicant volume)  

Mid November – Late December: First round video interviews   

Mid – Late January: Second round interviews  

Late January – February: Selected candidates receive offers  

Job Description

Summer 2024 Internship Program: 

  • Applications Close: December 8th at 11:59pm ET. Pro Tip: Submit your application as soon as possible – applications could close earlier due to applicant volume!  
  • Program Dates: June 3 – August 9, 2024
  • Time Commitment: 40 hours per week. Exact schedule to be determined based on business need.
  • Format: Opportunities listed will require an intern to work from the Universal City office 3-5 days per week.

The Entertainment Group develops and schedules the network’s primetime, late-night, and daytime entertainment programming, including USA, SYFY, Bravo, E!, Oxygen, and Universal Kids. NBC’s quality programs and balanced line-up have earned the network critical acclaim, numerous awards and ratings success, including most recently winning the traditional September-to-May season in primetime’s key demo, marking the network’s third win in four years. NBC has earned more Emmy Awards than any network in television history.     

 

Areas of placement may include, but are not limited to: 
 

  • E! News Digital & Social Analytics: The intern will have the opportunity to bring together, analyze, and interpret digital data to generate reports and dashboards for the E! News business, learn and use multiple analytics tools to help E! News grow its digital and social platforms – Eonline.com, E! News App, and E! Social Handles (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, TikTok), work closely with the editorial and social teams to generate insights and guide the E! News digital strategy while maintaining a pulse on the quickly developing news cycle within the entertainment pop news landscape. The E! News digital and social analytics internship is perfect for numbers-orientated and analytical minded students with career interests in the media industry and a desire to learn digital analytics
  • Entertainment Programming Research: Our research team covers performance insights, forecasting, and cross-portfolio optimization for content across all our networks. With content ranging from WWE on USA, premium docuseries like Below Deck and Real Housewives on Bravo, pop culture news on E! with Daily and Nightly Pop, and much more, our group touches a wide array of genres and interests. An intern supporting our group will be an integral part of how we report out on ratings performance data for all our programs to our key stakeholders, including scheduling, press, development, marketing, and more.
  • Syndication Research: NBC Universal Syndication Studios produces and distributes such shows as Access Hollywood and The Kelly Clarkson Show, and the research department is responsible for informing producers and executives about their performance in the ratings and on streaming platforms. Interns will distill a large volume of data from a variety of sources, such as Nielsen ratings and digital metrics, into concise and actionable reports that will be used by program executives to help them track the performance of our shows in a highly competitive landscape, look at the ratings on a minute-by-minute basis to determine what segments, guests and topics worked best on our shows and regularly update and keep an eye on the digital performance of our shows on a variety of platforms including YouTube, AOL, Apple, and On Domain

Qualifications

Basic Requirements

  • Must be actively enrolled in a degree-granting program at an accredited institution during the entire duration of the program.
  • Current class standing of sophomore or above (30 credits).
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship by NBCUniversal.
  • Must be willing to work in Universal City, CA.

Desired Characteristics

  • Students with class standing of junior or above preferred.
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above.
  • Likes working with numbers and Excel.
  • Knowledge of Tableau, SQL, Nielsen preferred but not required.
  • Ability to multitask and highly organized.

 

The hourly rate for student interns is $17.00.
