Intern - Program Support Assistant


Recent graduates who have completed, within the previous (2) two years, a qualifying associates, bachelors, masters, professional, doctorate, vocational or technical degree or certificate from a qualifying educational institution. Exception: A veteran due to military service obligation was unable to apply with 2 years of receiving their degree, will have up to (6) six years after degree completion to apply.

Full-time through the Summer of 2023; Fall/Spring semesters, student will convert to part-time 20hrs, with flexibility up to 40hrs, based on Program Office needs.
Schedule Example:
  • Summer: June 6 - August 26 (40 hours per week)
  • Fall: Aug 29 - Dec 30 (20-40 hours per week)
  • Spring: Jan 3 - May 19 (20-40 hours per week
Graduate Interns pay rate of $22.90 per hour.

:Chief Executive Office Immediate - The CEO Immediate office is responsible for ensuring that the agency fulfills its mission and overall objectives. Intern opportunities within this office include:
  • Management & Public Administration, Committee on Native American Affairs, and
  • Communication & Policy.
Office of Equal Employment Opportunity - The EEO ensures AmeriCorps' compliance with the laws, regulations, and executive orders which prohibit discrimination in the workplace.

The Office of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Accessibility - DEIAO develops and implements agency-wide diversity, equity, inclusion and accessibility initiatives and promotes a data-driven approaches to increase transparency and accountability.

Office of Human Capital - OHC promotes AmeriCorps' overall business strategy and mission by providing for a workforce of the highest quality. Interns may support projects related to Training & Development, Onboarding, Employee Engagement, Performance Development, Payroll & Systems and Human Capital Strategy and/or Policy.

Office of General Counsel Recruiting Law Students pursuing a graduate (J.D.) degreeOGC provides legal advice and opinions to AmeriCorps officials, including the CEO; drafts and reviews legislation, regulations, and policies related to AmeriCorps' operation and administration of programs; handles or supervises litigation to which AmeriCorps is a party; prepares, negotiates, and interprets agreements and contracts to which AmeriCorps is a party; and administers the agency's Ethics Program.

Auditing & Financial Management - ADR is responsible for assisting with financial systems reviews; development of indirect cost rates and cost allocation determinations; audit resolution issues; risk assessments; disallowed costs and debt management; and development and updating of agency financial policies and grant management procedures relating to audit resolution, indirect cost rate, and compliance.

Office of Information Technology - OIT is responsible for the architecture, hardware, software and networking of computers in AmeriCorps. OIT's goal to stabilize and streamline AmeriCorps core processes while providing data services that are efficient, scalable, holistic, and secures the information to influence and drive decision making.

Chief Program Office - The CPO provides coordination and support between AmeriCorps programs (AmeriCorps NCCC, AmeriCorps State and National, VISTA, AmeriCorps Seniors, Office of Grant Management, and the Office of Regional Operations) and the workforce.

The Office of Research and Evaluation - ORE conducts original and sponsored research and evaluations, support evaluations of grantees' research and programs, and promote evidence-based service models - all of which infuse data into AmeriCorps' programs and contribute to the public's understanding of national service. In addition to focusing on your particular area/interest of choice, the AmeriCorps Intern provides administrative and technical support to programs and/or department staff. General responsibilities include:
  • Conducts research, analyzes data and information from a variety of sources, and communicates results orally and in writing
  • Prepares a variety of written documents such as meeting minutes, correspondence, research papers, reports, Power Point presentations, and other deliverables as needed
  • Researches and gathers documentation as requested
  • Establishes and maintains office records of various types
  • Purges and disposes of records and files in accordance with established procedures
  • Provides administrative support to the office and ongoing initiatives or projects
  • Inputs information, data, and records into databases
  • Collaborates with team members to support the business objectives of the office
