There are two open vacancies within the Office of Community & Civic Life for Code Specialist II.

The first vacancy is for a Compliance Specialist in the Cannabis Program.
 
The purpose of this position is to investigate complaints, conduct site visits/inspections of cannabis businesses to ensure compliance with codes and administrative rules and issue administrative sanctions when needed. 

This position will meet with a diverse group of stakeholders, constituents, and partnering bureaus to explain actions, interpret and communicate codes, and develop solutions for code violation and related issues. This position is also required to maintain adequate record keeping, compose and maintain correspondence and records for proper evaluation and documentation of compliance case management.

The second position is in the City of Portland’s Noise Program.
 
This role will fill an integral role within our small team and will be primarily responsible for investigating noise complaints in the field. The Inspector position will primarily perform research, conduct investigations, gather evidence of noise violations, and recommend appropriate next steps. Strong record keeping, independent judgement, and excellent communication abilities are important to this position.

The noise inspector is expected to meet with a variety of stakeholders regarding noise across the City, educate community members about noise and livability in a City environment, and coordinate with businesses to develop noise mitigation plans. This requires occasionally working with challenging, upset, or passionate people. This position is required to learn and explain the City’s acoustical standards, noise variance processes, and applicable City code both in writing and verbally.
