Company Info: Our client is a not-for-profit electric cooperative providing wholesale power to 28 distribution cooperatives in Minnesota and Wisconsin. Their member cooperatives distribute that electricity to families, farms, and businesses – serving almost 1.7 million people.
 
Description: our headquarters and working remotely. This opportunity evolves assisting the GIS department in the development and conversion to esri’s new utility network data model along with general GIS project support. It will provide a hands-on learning opportunity working collaboratively with our GIS staff that have several years of utility GIS experience. GIS data conversion, editing and error checking will be a dominant portion of the job duties with opportunities to support other GIS initiatives. Additionally, there may be opportunities for field and web application development, GIS integration and automation.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Develop and update map data for use within the GIS portal.
  • Develop and edit GIS maps and applications using esri based GIS applications.
  • Perform utility focused spatial analysis and data enrichment.
  • Support electric utility-based GIS project and analysis.
  • Assist with utility network design, data conversion, and representation
Requirements:
  • Familiarity with esri GIS software including ArcGIS pro ArcGIS Enterprise and ArcGIS Online
  • General cartography skills with knowledge of coordinate systems and map projections
  • Understanding of geodatabase applications, data modeling, SQL and automation using python
  • General knowledge of web base service architecture
  • Strong attention to accuracy and detail
  • Good problem-solving skills
 
Physical Requirements: Much of the work will be in a normal office/hybrid environment. Office work involves working at a computer station for extended periods of time. Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job.
