IT Database Administrator

Description
Public Works Administration is seeking an IT Database Administrator with experience in Tier II/III support of IT business systems, smart technologies, SQL server, database administration and cloud solutions, and the ability to facilitate the relationship between technology and business processes that result in business-driven solutions. This position will be part of with the business line IT team and will work closely with other IT professionals and business users by providing technical database support of critical systems, application management, advance smart technologies, support system integrations, work in Azure solutions, ETL, and general IT support.

Location and hours:
This position is hybrid and will be performed both onsite at 1600 Prairie Dr., Medina, Minnesota 55340, and remote as duties require. Work hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., and will require an after-hours on-call rotation for support of critical systems. 
While this position is designated as hybrid, based on current requirements hires must reside in Minnesota or Wisconsin.

New employees who are hired into remote or hybrid positions between January 2, 2022, to December 31, 2024, will receive $500 toward the cost of establishing consistent internet connectivity, payable upon completion of 6 months of employment.  
At this time, employees may be eligible to receive an additional cash merit of up to $2,325.83 that can be earned annually based on performance.
In this position, you will:
·      Provide Tier II/III database support to ensure stability and consistent performance of Public Works systems (on-prem and vendor hosted systems).
·      Troubleshoot technical issues and resolve problems related to application performance, database performance, and system configurations.
·      Provide technical insight, expertise and guidance for system onboarding, testing, maintenance, issue resolution, and upgrades. 
·      Research, analyze, and advance key data-driven technologies.
·      Communicate decisions, priorities, and relevant project and solution information to appropriate levels of staff; effectively communicate with technical and non-technical partners on service requests and other enterprise solutions.
Need to have:
·      One of the following:
o  Seven years or more of information technology experience.
o  Associate's/vocational/technical degree in an information technology field and five years or more of experience in information technology.
o  Bachelor's degree or higher in computer science/engineering, or a related information technology field and three years or more of IT administration or IT database administration experience. 
·      A valid driver's license and the ability to obtain a Hennepin County driver's permit.
Nice to have:
·      Certifications in:
o  IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL).
o  Azure.
o  In a leading professional level IT certification area such as MCSA, MCSE, IBM, or CDMP.
·      Experience: 
o  With administration of tiered applications including app, web, database and reporting layers.
o  As a database administrator. 
o  With technical support of critical systems (on-prem, hybrid and vendor hosted).
o  Performing SQL server administration and automation tasks. 
o  Advancing technology solutions in smart technologies, IoT, Azure solutions and connected systems.
o  Working in tools such as Visual Studio, PowerShell, Power BI, an ITSM system and office productivity software like Microsoft Office 365.
·      Knowledge of: 
o  IT best practices, IT support processes, agile methodologies/frameworks, organizational applications, technology integration, security concepts, virtual and cloud concepts, networking, and data continuity.
o  Different database types and understanding of how to design, build and optimize databases, tables and queries for high performance/availability.
o  SSRS (Reporting Services), SSIS (integration Services), T-SQL, Batch scripting, Crystal Reports, and Crystal Reports Server.
·      Ability to: 
o  Provide end user technical support for systems and applications. 
o  Organize and plan work effectively; establish and maintain effective working relationships. 
o  Mentor other IT Professionals on IT best practices.
o  Successfully work across organizational boundaries and work with and in diverse teams. 
o  Facilitate meetings and communicate effectively through written, virtual and in-person presentations.
·      Strong organizational, analytical, and decision-making skills.
·      Strong skills in writing documentation for both end-user instructional and technical audiences.
