IT Project Manager

IT Project Manager
Department: DAS - Information Management Services Division
Full-time, Salary
Salary Range: $87,276.80 - $103,272.00/yr
 
Position Summary: Under the direction of the IT Director-Project Management Office, the IT Project Manager is responsible for the overall direction, implementation, execution, control and completion of information technology projects ensuring consistency with Milwaukee County strategies, commitments, and goals. Success requires that this role supports the Project Management Office, tool development and process compliance.
 
Job Responsibilities
  • Project Management - Manages, coordinates and establishes priorities for the complete life cycle of projects including the planning, designing, programming, testing and implementing of solutions. Directs project and contracted project personnel for tasks. Ensures quality assurance in all aspects of work.
  • Project Feasibility, Ideation and Initiation - Coordinates the development of new IT systems and/or applications projects, the modification of existing systems or applications, and changes in current methods or techniques.
  • Project Documentation and Reporting - Develops reports that define project progress and problems and solutions. Implements and manages project changes and interventions to achieve project outputs. Performs project evaluations and assessment of results documenting defined metrics.
  • Budget Responsibility - Responsible for the budget and monitoring of spending for assigned projects. Tracks team hours and ensures accurate accounting of resource and project spend.
  • Promote Project Management Office Excellence - Works effectively in a matrix environment and develops a culture of collaboration. Provides lessons learned and actively contributes to improving project management maturity within Milwaukee County.

Required Qualifications
  • Current residency within the State of Wisconsin required
  • Valid Wisconsin Driver’s License and access to an insured and reliable vehicle required
  • Associate degree or higher in Information Technology, Business Management or closely related field required
  • Three (3) years or more of work experience in Information Technology required
  • Three (3) years or more of work experience in a Supervisory, Management or Project Manager role required
  • Advanced knowledge of all related computer and software applications required
Preferred Qualifications
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred
 
Additional Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Knowledge of analytical, training and coaching methods; skilled at reading, comprehending, analyzing, and writing simple instructions, reports, short correspondence, and memos; able to prepare and/or effectively present written communication which pertain to controversial and complex topics to internal as well as external groups; ability to conceptualize, be creative, problem solve, pragmatic, and assertive; ability to maintain a continuing working relationships which have a significant effect on the success of the organization. Skilled in the use of PC’s, laptops and cell phone; ability to work effectively and harmoniously with peers, client departments.
