Investment Intern

Location: Hybrid (Alsip & Home)
 
Summary: As a part time, 20 hours per week Investment Intern for Nourish Ventures, this individual will engage with entrepreneurs, the innovation ecosystem, venture capital firms, and others in the investment ecosystem. These relationships will be used to source deals and propose start-ups for investment and strategic collaboration. The individual will work on all aspects of the investment process and will play an integral role in the group’s activities both before and after investment.
 
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Work on all the financial aspects of investment, including diligence and evaluation of possible strategic partnerships. This includes helping with financial modeling, industry evaluation, cap. table analysis, competitor analysis, etc.
  • Create periodic reports regarding the valuation of the portfolio, the pipeline of investment ideas, and opportunities for commercial partnerships that will be presented to Griffith Foods.
  • Identify high-quality deal flow using the group’s network of VC/CVC/incubators/accelerators/start-ups in North America, and globally.
  • Develop, strengthen, and broaden venture network: VCs; CVCs; start-ups; incubators; accelerators; and related entities. Be an active and helpful member of the venture community.
  • Identify industry trends as they emerge and present opportunities for investment and strategic collaboration; these will be aligned with the investment priorities of Nourish Ventures. Generate reports regarding these subjects for use by the broader organization.
  • Work collaboratively with the Nourish Ventures team regionally and globally on management of the fund and process.
  • Manage the investment-related relationship with partners, including participating in periodic updates, etc.
 
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, or related field. (Master’s degree or MBA candidates preferred. Progress toward CFA an acceptable substitute).
  • Some knowledge regarding consumer-related sectors and the food industry, specifically.
  • Ability to work with VC, CVC, incubators, and start-ups in the industry preferred.
  • Strong work ethic with excellent communication and relationship-building skills with the ability to complete complicated financial analysis.
  • Enthusiastic about investment in the food industry and using it to improve human and plant health.
  • Preferred location is Chicago (open to other locations in the US).
 
Bonus Skillsets:
  • Unique blend of investment experience and background in CVC or VC.
  • Experience with investment due diligence.
  • Pursuing a master’s degree, MBA, or CFA.
