Office Assistant
Job Description
Position Title: Office Assistant (Pay Range $8.25-9.25)
Duties/Responsibilities
The main responsibility of the Office Assistant is to act as the office receptionist:
• Answering the phones
• Scheduling appointments through ACCESS
• Greeting visitors and providing them assistance
• Proctoring exams for students with disabilities
• Returning exams to mailrooms/offices
• Hiring notetaker to provide note taking services
Other duties include:
• Monitoring exam rooms
• Typing, filing, Internet searching and other office tasks (some knowledge of technology is required)
• Creating bulletin boards
• Providing sole office coverage at times
• Running errands for the office
• Keeping track of contracts with students and services provided
• Assisting Coordinator and University Services Associate with miscellaneous tasks
Qualifications
o Prior experience as an office assistant or receptionist is beneficial but not required.
o Strong attention to detail; able to multitask, etc.
o Must be dependable and prompt with uploading
o Knowledge of computer programs (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook)
o Able to maintain confidentiality of students and students’ records
o Must be comfortable working with a diverse student population, including students, faculty, and staff
o Willingness to learn about and assist students with available auxiliary aids, technology (Sonnocent, Capti Audio Notetaker)
