2022 Summer Intern - Corporate - Financial Reporting/Technical Accounting - McLean

Primary Duties:    
This position includes key responsibilities in the areas of financial reporting and technical accounting. The intern would participate in accounting and finance activities, including the accurate consolidation and reporting of the Company’s financial statements, the technical review and documentation of key accounting transactions and the preparation of quarterly technical accounting position papers. This position provides exposure to our financial processes as well as working with our operating segments and other corporate departments (including HR, Legal, FP&A, Tax, and Investor Relations) within the organization. 

Quarterly Reporting
  • Assist in the external financial reporting process by preparing key disclosures for our quarterly financial statements (Form 10-Q) for filing with the SEC and maintaining supporting documentation to substantiate information included in each SEC filing 
  • Prepare financial support for earnings and investor presentations 
  • Assist in the preparation of materials for the Audit Committee
  • Prepare monthly financial statements for internal reporting purposes 
  • Other duties as directed by the Manager, External Reporting

Technical Accounting
  • Prepare position papers for recurring accounting areas subject to estimates, judgments, and complexity (e.g., revenue, compensation, and goodwill impairment)
  • Assist with development and delivery of training material on key topics (e.g., revenue and leases)
  • Assist with research for new and significant transactions
  • Prepare journal entries for new and significant transactions and coordinate with the corporate department to ensure the entries are properly recorded in the accounting system
  • Other duties as directed by the Manager, Technical Accounting

Basic Qualifications: 
  • Pursuing a degree in Accounting with plans on obtaining your CPA
  • Minimum 3.0 Cumulative GPA
  • Permanent US work authorization
  • Travel to FTI Office(s)
