Project-Based Learning Coach

POSITION: Project-Based Learning Coach

The MAISD Project Based Learning (PBL) Coach assists districts in the development of K-12 PBL 
programs providing guidance for the design, implementation, and evaluation phases. The Coach 
provides technical assistance to principals, counselors, and teachers as they develop curricula and 
instructional models that integrate content in ways that connect career education through the lens 
of project-based and place-based
education. The PBL Coach provides job-embedded professional learning and instructional coaching to 
teachers, and serves as a liaison between the MAISD, local districts, and business, industry and 
community partners.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
•   Possession of a Bachelor's degree in education or related field.
•   Possession of a valid elementary or secondary teaching certificate and at least 3-5 years of 
successful classroom teaching experience.
•   Knowledge and experience in curriculum, assessment, and instruction.
•   Experience with project-based and/or place-based learning.
•   Strong leadership, planning, and organizational/time management skills.
•   Enthusiastic, independently motivated and capable of meeting challenges and deadlines.
•   Possession of solid interpersonal skills, strong written and verbal communication skills, and 
experience working with diverse populations.
•   Ability to work within a team oriented environment.
•   Willingness and ability to work a flexible schedule including early mornings, evenings, and 
weekends.
•   Experience using instructional technology.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
•   Provide instructional expertise for the MAISD PBL STEM Academy.
• Provide expertise, coaching, and support for teachers and administrators on curriculum, 
instruction and assessment in the field of STEM education and project-based learning.
•   Engages in team teaching and coaching environment for students and teachers participating in 
the MAISD PBL STEM Academy.
•   Support curriculum development and design for project-based learning experiences for K-12th 
graders.
•   Support and implement professional development for teachers and programs for students to 
support project-based learning implementation
•   Supports integrated STEM education programs and services for teachers and students.
•   Enacts program evaluation activities for the MAISD PBL STEM Academy
•   Works in a team environment with MAISD and local school district staff to plan and deliver 
programs and services.
•   Perform other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned.

TERMS: This position is a 8 hour per day, 200 work day position offering full family benefits 
(medical, dental, and vision).
SALARY RANGE: $232.6130- $360.9326 per day (Step 1 - 22 BA) dependent on experience and education 
on the Muskegon Area ISD School Year Professional Scale.
