County Agency Social Worker

Des Moines Valley Health and Human Services (DVHHS) currently has a full time opening for County Agency Social Worker. DVHHS serves Cottonwood and Jackson Counties. This position assesses the need for services when requested by families and individuals and provides on-going case management services to children and their families when it has been determined that maltreatment occurred. Primary job duties include; performing home visits and meetings with service providers to monitor and assess safety of families and children by reviewing behaviors, functioning levels and circumstances, reporting to appropriate entities on progress of families and provides on-going case management.
 
Minimum qualifications of education and experience for this position: This position requires a bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university with a major in social work, psychology, sociology, or a closely related field; or a bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university with a major in any field and one year of experience as a social worker in a public or private social services agency.
 
Preferred Qualifications:
 
Applicants must meet the MN State Merit System requirements and maintain required continued education.

This position is classified in Grade 13 of the DVHHS Compensation Plan with a salary range of $23.64 - $30.73 per hour, dependent upon the credentials of the successful candidate.
 
This is a full-time position working 40 hours per week with a full benefit package which includes Public Employee Retirement pension. 
 
In order to ensure the safety of citizens, employees and property, DVHHS has adopted a drug and alcohol testing policy which applies to all candidates being considered for employment with DVHHS. A Drug and Alcohol test must be completed within 24 hours of all contingent verbal offers of employment, unless alternate scheduling arrangements are approved by Human Resources office.
