Substance Abuse Counselor

Clark County is seeking an organized, energetic individual to provide alcohol and other drug addiction (AODA) treatment services to residents of the county. Services include assessment, counseling, information and referral services, case management as well as crisis intervention.
The person in this position will conduct AODA assessments and, based on their findings, will provide counseling and treatment to individuals, couples, families and/or groups. They will conduct the Intoxicated Driver Program (IDP) assessments and will develop the required Driver Safety Plans (DSP) for Clark County residents who have received an Operating While Intoxicated (OWI) or Driving While Under the Influence (DUI). This individual will also work collaboratively with corrections staff in the Clark County Jail to provide weekly AODA groups to inmates.

Candidates will possess an Associate’s Degree in Substance Abuse Counseling or another Human Services related field of study. A minimum of two years’ experience working as an AODA counselor in a certified program (outpatient setting is preferred) is required. A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology or a related Human Services field is preferred, yet candidates with an Associate’s Degree and years of experience will be considered. Candidate must have successfully completed the Intoxicated Driver Program – Approved Training (IDP-AT) and must be licensed within the State of Wisconsin as a Certified Substance Abuse Counselor (CSAC) or as a Licensed Clinical Substance Abuse Counselor. Applicants must pass background checks conducted by the Wisconsin Department of Justice and the Wisconsin Department of Health Services.

Minimum wage for this position is $22.27 - $25.42, based on experience and qualifications, plus a competitive benefit package.
