Marketing and Special Events Coordinator at Hallie Q. Brown Community Center

The Hallie Q. Brown Community Center is hiring a Marketing and Special Events Coordinator. This position plans, organizes, and implements the organization’s multiple events throughout the year. These events include culturally and community specific events, new events as well as existing events. This position also will identify board volunteer opportunities and community outreach as well as cultivating new and existing corporate relationships. We are looking for candidates with a deep commitment and understanding of the Twin Cities African American community, ability to build relationships in the community, and the expertise to manage multiple projects at once. Due to demands and schedules of the organization, the schedule will vary between the hours of 7:00am to 6:00pm, with occasional evenings and weekends depending upon fundraising events. This position can become a stepping stone to other positions within the Hallie Q. Brown organization.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Events Coordination
  • Coordinate event calendar and documentation to ensure proper planning and execution of recurring events (Rondo Days, March Campaign, and many more).
  • Strategizing with leadership to plan events including; preparing invitations, managing RSVPs, communicating seating charts, and overseeing set up and tear down of events.
  • Support development team in implementation of fundraising events, such as planning and project management for the annual gala.
 
Administration and Marketing
  • Navigating and promoting on organization’s social media accounts.
  • Understand target audiences and key messaging.
  • Capture client stories: determine and execute method of capturing visuals and audio, transcribe and edit to fit fundraising and marketing needs.
  • Support and implement outreach activities including conference displays, special events and targeted mailings.
  • Assist with production of communication materials including e-newsletters, brochures, annual report, and press releases.
  • Development and production of printed communications materials.
  • Monitor and assist with inventory of printed communications materials.
 
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 1 - 3 years demonstrated success working in a Marketing or Special Events support role.
 
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • A commitment to the mission of Hallie Q. Brown Community Center.
  • Intermediate to advanced MS office skills, social media savvy.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with demonstrated ability to build and maintain solid professional relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to work effectively independently, in a team environment and collaborate with diverse groups.
  • Ability to be creative and flexible in responding to changing priorities and emerging needs.
  • Self-motivated and the ability to manage time and competing priorities and projects.
 
Licenses and/or Certifications:
  • Must have completed COVID-19 vaccination and/or will have completed the vaccine before starting; Hallie Q. Brown can provide vaccination resources if needed.
  • Valid MN Drivers’ License, access to reliable transportation, and the ability to meet Hallie Q. Brown’s driving record requirements.
