Development Coordinator at Hallie Q. Brown Community Center

The Hallie Q. Brown Community Center is hiring a Development Coordinator. This position organizes the volunteers for fundraising events, maintains the donor database, and collaborates with the Marketing and Events Coordinator. We are looking for candidates with a deep commitment and understanding of the Twin Cities African American community, with a celebrated level of emotional intelligence, ability to build relationships in the community, and the expertise to manage multiple projects at once. Due to demands and schedules of the organization, the schedule will vary between the hours of 7:00am to 6:00pm, with occasional evenings and weekends depending upon fundraising events.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Development
  • Support agency development plan to effectively promote the organization, educate the public, and maximize fundraising efforts.
  • Prepares grant proposals by determining concept, gathering and formatting information, writing drafts, and obtaining approvals.
  • Determines grant proposal concept by identifying and clarifying opportunities and needs, studying requests for proposal (RFPs), and attending strategy meetings.
  • Meets proposal deadline by establishing priorities and target dates for information gathering, writing, review, approval, and transmittal.
  • Track deadlines for proposals and reports.
  • Track and analyze the effectiveness of fundraising activities and prepare regular development reports.
  • Maintain donor records, including donor database and grant records
Communications and Marketing
  • Provide input on content for agency communications and web site.
  • Incorporate targeted fundraising strategies within all agency public relations efforts, including website, social media, and print and electronic materials.
  • Assist with production of communication materials including e-newsletters, brochures, annual report, and press releases. Monitor and assist with inventory of printed communications materials.
Volunteer Management
  • Manage volunteer pipeline.
  • Coordinate and organize volunteers for organization’s events.
 
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and minimum of 2 years of work experience relevant field; or demonstrably equivalent knowledge gained through alternative courses of study and life experience.
 
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • A commitment to the mission of Hallie Q. Brown Community Center.
  • Knowledge and experience working with culturally and racially diverse populations in lower socio-economic conditions.
  • Exceptional project management and administrative support skills.
  • A balance in personal qualities, including integrity, dedication, intelligence, initiative, and flexibility.
  • Strong critical thinking skills, attention to detail, and the ability to organize ideas, materials and workflow.
  • Excellent communication (oral and written) skills, interpersonal skills, and presentation skills.
  • Ability and willingness to assist coworkers, supervisors and clients in a cooperative, solutions-oriented manner.
  • Commitment to racial equity, shared leadership, civic engagement and building the capacity of communities.
  • Intermediate to advanced MS office skills.
  • Experience with fundraising and/or program related databases. 

 
Licenses and/or Certifications:
  • Must have completed COVID-19 vaccination and/or will have completed the vaccine before starting; Hallie Q. Brown can provide vaccination resources if needed.
  • alid MN Drivers’ License, access to reliable transportation, and the ability to meet Hallie Q. Brown’s driving record requirements.
