Teacher: 6th grade (Science and Language Arts)

Applicants would provide instruction based on the district curriculum for sixth graders in science and language arts, allowing them to reach their potential for intellectual, physical, emotional, and psychological growth and maturation. A successful applicant would be appropriately licensed in middle-level science with the ability to be licensed in middle-level language arts.  

Pay is based on a schedule reflecting both experience and education level - please see attachment.
 
Applicants should have knowledge of Professional Learning Communities, an ability to create a safe and orderly classroom, and be willing to work with team members to creates a dynamic learning environment for all students of the North Santiam School District. 
  1. Current valid Oregon Teaching License with appropriate authorization level required
  2. Ability to demonstrate knowledge of subject matter, to seek professional growth, and improve classroom instruction
  3. Ability to demonstrate high standards of moral and ethical behavior and to serve as an effective role model
  4. Regular attendance and punctuality
  5. Ability to work harmoniously with others and to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with students, parents, staff, and the community
  6. Other qualifications as may be established by the school district

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Plan and implement a program of study following state and district goals/curriculum that meets the individual needs and development of students
  • Guide the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals; establish clear objectives for all instructional units, projects, and lessons to communicate these goals and objectives to students
  • Effective communication, oral and written, with students, staff, parents, and the public
  • Develop and maintain a classroom environment conducive to learning
  • Establish and clarify acceptable standards for student behavior and demonstrate effective classroom management skills
  • Diagnose the needs and abilities of students and prescribe appropriate learning activities for each student
  • Assess the accomplishments of students regularly and maintain such records as required by law and District policy
  • Maintain excellence in instruction with focus upon student outcomes
  • Utilize age-appropriate instructional strategies
  • Regular attendance and punctuality
  • Maintain a high level of ethical behavior
  • Familiarity with, and following of, established written standard operating procedures for specific responsibilities of this position
  • Perform other duties assigned by the administration
