Electrical Engineer - FPGA/CPU/Analog to Digital Interfaces-Remote Sensing (Early-Mid Career)

What Your Job Will Be Like
We are seeking a driven and results-oriented Electrical Engineer to join our dynamic team to provide technical leadership for projects relating to remote sensing and satellite systems. The job involves research, design, fabrication, integration, test, and deployment of electrical components, subsystems, and assemblies. The successful candidate will have experience with digital designs for embedded applications such as:
  • Processor board design (both CPUs and/or GPUs)
  • FPGA design and HDL (specifically VHDL) experience
  • High-speed network and interface electronics
  • High-speed analog to digital interfaces
On any given day, your job responsibilities may include:
  • Collaborate to understand, simulate, and test electrical components and systems exposed to the radiation environments present in space
  • Research and design components, subassemblies, and systems that are resilient to these environments
  • Full product design cycle: design, manufacture, and support of analog and digital circuitry
  • Work with the layout design engineer to mitigate potential issues in manufacturing and system operation
  • Coordinate with PCB fabrication and assembly shops concerning design and part issues
  • Test and validate PCBs after fabrication
  • Support lab and outdoor field testing of electro-optical prototypes
  • Modify and update firmware used in prototypes
Qualifications We Require
  • A Bachelors degree in electrical engineering with 5 years' experience or Master's degree in the above stated field plus one year experience
  • Ability to obtain a DOE Q Clearance
Qualifications We Desire
  • Experience with the following: electronic system design; analog, digital, and embedded systems; circuit design and simulation; integrated circuit and component breadboarding and evaluation; schematic creation, evaluation, and analysis; board layout evaluation
  • Testing/troubleshooting specific experience including: board level testing, modification and rework; use of laboratory test equipment (oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, waveform/function generators, multimeters, power supplies, and data acquisition systems)
  • Proficiency with the following software: schematic and layout software (Eagle, Altium, and/or Mentor Graphics); signal processing software (Python and Matlab); Office productivity software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio)
  • Experience with programming languages and embedded systems (i.e. C/C++, Arduino, and LabVIEW)
  • Proven experience with Microcontrollers (Microchip and STMicro), single board CPUs (Raspberry Pi, BeagleBone), and Arduino devices
  • Demonstrated ability with electro-optics: lasers, photodetectors, and associated electronics
  • Experience with soldering and rework tools
