Job Summary

Job Summary
This position will assist permanent Minnesota Forest Resource Council staff with administrative and programmatic assistance. Work will include administrative responsibilities, outreach, communications, education, presentations, researching sustainable forest resource management activities, collecting and organizing data, studies and report development, writing, and analysis.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:
This position is a part time limited Student Worker Para Professional position with an anticipated end date of December 31, 2021.  Hours may be adjusted based on work needs/class schedule.
To be eligible as a student worker para professional you must be enrolled in a post-secondary or graduate program. If enrolled at a credit-granting institution he/she must carry at least six semester (nine quarter) credits. If enrolled at a non-credit granting institution or one that only offers one credit per class, a student must be taking two or more classes per semester/quarter. Graduate students must be enrolled in at least two courses or making progress on a dissertation. You will be asked to complete an Educational Verification form prior to appointment and every six (6) months thereafter.
  • Educational background in forestry, wildlife management, biology, natural resources, environmental studies, planning, economics, political science or related field.
  • Knowledge of natural resource management sufficient to assist staff in support activities of policy, landscape and site-level programs.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills sufficient to write reports and memos.
  • Proficiency in Word, PowerPoint and Excel or similar programs sufficient to create and manipulate data.
  • Good human relation, communication and organizational skills
  • Requires a Class D Driver's License: a single unit vehicle with a gross vehicle weight of less than 26,000 pounds. This is a basic driver's license. Operators may also tow vehicles/trailers as long as the gross combination weight does not exceed 26,000 pounds.
Physical Requirements
Requires occasionally lifting such articles as file boxes and heavy hand tools or heavier materials with help from others and/or lifting and carrying light objects frequently. Even though the weights being lifted may only be a negligible amount, a job is in this category may require walking or standing to a significant degree or may involve sitting most of the time with a degree of pushing and pulling of arm and/or leg controls.
Additional Requirements
This position requires an unrestricted Class D Driver's License with a clear driving record.
