Licensed Acupuncturist

1.  Job Summary:
The Licensed Acupuncturist will consult with clients and provide acupuncture therapy to treat a specific illness or condition or help clients achieve balance and wellness in their lives. This position will create an enjoyable atmosphere that promotes client wellness in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures.
2.  Essential Functions: 
  • Consult with clients, discuss treatment options and preventative measures and provide acupuncture therapy.
  • Create a comfortable and professional environment.
  • Maintain acupuncture needles and other tools ensuring all safety, infection, quality and environmental procedures and rules are in place and used.
  • Obtain and maintain required certification and proper licensing related to acupuncture. 
  • Provide courteous, prompt and sincere attention to all clients. 
  • Respond to and communicate all client concerns and feedback in a timely manner to your supervisor.
  • Follow and enforce appointment schedule and cancellation policy.
  • Assist welcoming and checking in clients when needed.
3.  Relationships:
This position reports to the Center Manager who reports to the Vice President of Healthy Living. The incumbent interacts with members and clients and responds to their needs and provides feedback in a professional manner. The incumbent is expected to treat members and staff with respect and responsibility.
4.  Qualifications:
 Required:
  • Minimum 18 years of age
  • Master’s degree or post-baccalaureate certificate from a school accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (ACAOM)
  • Current certification by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncturists and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM) in acupuncture or NCCAOM certification in Oriental medicine
  • Current MN Acupuncturist License
  • CPR certification
  • Excellent customer service, active listening and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent problem solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate others to achieve their health and well-being goals
  • Demonstrated ability working with a diverse population and ability levels
  • Ability to respond to safety and emergency situations
 5.  Physical Demands:
Ability to perform all physical aspects of the position including walking, standing, bending, reaching, and lifting up to 50 pounds at a time.

The incumbent is also responsible for taking direction from the Vice President of Healthy Living or their representatives in completing projects or performing duties deemed necessary for the branch or associations success.
