Advanced Practice Esthetician

1.  Job Summary:
 
An esthetician cleans and maintains a client’s skin by performing facials, waxing, chemical peels, skin treatments and body treatments. The incumbent ensures excellent customer service for members and guests. The incumbent’s abilities and character should align with the mission and values of the YMCA and promote excellent customer service.

2.  Essential Functions: 
  • Evaluate a customer's skin condition and offer recommendations for treatments
  • Perform facials which include exfoliation, microdermabrasion, chemical peels and other skin refinements
  • Recommend skincare products to customers, including lotions, facial washes and moisturizers
  • Wax or pluck unwanted hair
  • Maintain beauty and skincare tools
  • Participate in Spa department meetings on a routine basis
  • Other duties as assigned
 
3.  Relationships:
 
This position reports to the Center Director who reports to the General Manager. The incumbent interacts with members and clients and responds to their needs and provides feedback in a professional manner. The incumbent is expected to treat members and staff with respect and responsibility.

4.  Qualifications:
 
Required
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience working as an Esthetician
  • Extensive knowledge of skincare techniques
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, a talent for making people feel comfortable
  • Strong time management skills
  • Ability to recommend and sell products
  • Demonstrated ability working with a diverse population
  • Ability to respond to safety and emergency situations
  • Preferred:
  • Experience working in a Spa environment or demonstration of excellent customer service and technical abilities.
5.  Work Conditions:
 
Ability to perform all physical aspects of the position including walking, standing, bending, reaching, and lifting up to 50 pounds at a time.
