Special Education Program Support Teacher

SPECIAL EDUCATION PROGRAM SUPPORT TEACHER

DISTRICT-WIDE




QUALIFICATIONS:
QUALIFICATIONS:
1.    Must be a Wisconsin DPI certified as a Special Education teacher. Preference will be given to candidate certified grades EC-12.
2.    A minimum of five years of teaching experience.
3.    Must be knowledgeable in Positive Behavior Intervention and Support, Functional Behavior Assessment, all disability categories, Seclusion and Restraint, and Response to Intervention.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.    Coaching and supporting teachers in providing appropriate behavioral and academic support to children with disabilities three-years-old through age 21.
2.    Provide consultation in the areas of diagnosis and intervention procedures, classroom management, curriculum development, and instructional methods to special and regular education teachers. Have knowledge in evidence-based practices.
3.    Support teachers in answering IEP paperwork and programming questions.
4.    Review evaluation and IEP paperwork to ensure compliance.
5.    Conduct special education evaluations for parochial school students and in support of unlicensed staff.
6.    Provide leadership for implementation of Functional Behavior Assessment and Behavior Intervention Plans.
7.    Provide professional development to staff.
8.    Support staff of students on homebound instruction, parochial schools, jail bound, residential placement, and nonpublic school placements.
9.    Direct service delivery for students on homebound instruction.
10. Be familiar with the district and statewide assessments. Provide strategies to assist parents/guardians in working with their child.
11. Attend/facilitate building-level special education department meetings.
12. Serve on and attend district-wide committee meetings.
13. Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Special Education.
