Engineering Summer Intern - Transmission Design

PURPOSE:
Assist the Transmission Design Engineering team in the study, design, documentation, and implementation of various projects related to the engineering, maintenance, and construction of transmission lines.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  1. Provide assistance in cost analysis of various types of structure material.
  2. Assist with the organization of data for integration into the GIS database.
  3. Assist in department standards and record keeping.
  4. Perform other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education & Experience:
Student pursuing a position in civil, electrical, or mechanical engineering or engineering technology fields. Preference given to candidates in their junior year of a 4-year program or the first year of a 2-year program. Knowledge of the power industry is beneficial.
Skills:
Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook.), pdf readers. AutoCAD. Must possess strong mathematical, organizational, verbal and written, communication skills.
Licenses and Certifications:
Valid Driver’s License

Environmental Demands:
Individual will work indoors at a computer station and in the field with construction and maintenance crews.
Other Job Characteristics:
Work under limited supervision in a variably paced and pressured work setting. Must be able to work in a team oriented setting. Some overnight stay and travel required with possible irregular work hours.
