Horticultural Summer Internship
DESCRIPTION
This is a hands-on leadership role with outstanding learning and experience opportunities working with Management staff and a nonprofit friends group. The position will be responsible for developing an improvement plan for the Bellevue State Park Music Garden.
LOCATION
- Bellevue State Park - Wilmington, Delaware
TERM OF SERVICE
- 12 weeks - summer
- Full-time, 30-35 hours per week
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist with maintenance, planting, and other activities related to flora of the park
- Maintain and assist in improvements of the Music Garden
- Identify and develop improvement project of Music Garden
- Will present improvement recommendations to staff and Friends group
- Engage with local garden shops and clubs
- Work with the Friends of Bellevue to identify additional needs
REQUIRED SKILLS
- Must be personable and able to provide outstanding customer service for diverse park visitors
- Able to communicate effectively with a diverse public and speak publicly in front of groups or audiences
- Must be able to work flexible hours, including weekends
- Must be at least 17 years of age
- Ability to work alone with little direct supervision
- Have a valid driver’s license
