Fundraising Intern - Diversifying Art Museum Leadership Initiative

About: The Diversifying Art Museum Leadership Initiative (DAMLI) at The Warhol creates supportive pathways for young people and emerging leaders from backgrounds currently underrepresented in our field to explore and advance in museum careers.

The Advancement Department leads all fundraising and business development opportunities for the museum. Specifically, developing and deepening donor relationships with individuals, corporations, and organizations through strategic planning and creative engagement. They collaborate with all museum departments to understand funding and with The Directors’ office and the Advisory Board to articulate and advance the museum’s mission.

The Warhol seeks college, graduate students, or those with equivalent experience for full-time paid summer internships. Applicants from underrepresented backgrounds including BIPOC, people with disabilities, speakers of languages other than English, and people who identify as LGBTQ+ are strongly encouraged to apply.

Compensation: This competitive 7-week summer internship includes a stipend of $2,500 for qualified candidates.

Dates: June 14th – July 30th, 2021

Duties: Interns will be embedded within a department to learn about the museum’s operations and assist with essential tasks. Interns will receive one-on-one training and mentoring from a member of The Warhol’s staff. Due to the continued global pandemic this internship is a hybrid of in-person and remote work according to a schedule that the chosen candidate and their supervisor agree to.
·        Work alongside The Advancement team to reimagine and grow the current Giving Society offering by developing new concept and creative strategy
·        Research and build a targeted list of prospective Giving Society members using a variety of methods including internet research, local media and liaising with the larger Carnegie Museums of Pittsburgh's central team
·        Assist with the design and coordination of solicitation materials
·        Support planning for The Warhol's annual fundraising dinner by managing venue and auction information and developing the invitation list
·        Work to enter and organize data in The Warhol’s donor management software, Raiser’s Edge, as directed
Through this Fundraising internship, the intern will gain an understanding of institutional development strategies and tactics, operating knowledge of donor management software Raiser’s Edge, non-profit budget management and project finance, business competency related to cultural institutions and expand their personal and professional networks.

Skills and Background:
·        The Warhol seeks talented, self-directed students currently enrolled in their junior or senior year of college or graduate school in a related field or those who have equivalent experience.
·        The Fundraising intern should be familiar with Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite
·        Candidate should be enthusiastic and a creative thinker with a passion for art and culture
·        Interested in social event planning and engaging with Pittsburgh's professional, philanthropic and creative networks
