Job Title: Mechanic Intern
Department: Facilities
Reports to: Vehicles & Equipment Supervisor
Status: Full-time, Summer (Seasonal)

SUMMARY
Assist in all aspects of mechanical maintenance to EAA’s fleet of vehicles and equipment. Activities include, oil change services, tire rotations, brake service and replacement, tune ups as well as provide support during more complicated repairs. Other duties may be assigned.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Assist in repair and maintenance on EAA vehicles and equipment according to the standards set by supervisor.
• Performs duties of engine tune-ups, repairs and overhauls, oil changes, tire rotations and changes, with repairs to manual, drive trains and axles, transmissions, clutches, brakes, and suspension.
• Preforms routine maintenance, and inspections on lawn and grounds equipment. 
• Prepares and inspects vehicles/trailers for company travel. 
• Loading and unloading of vehicles and equipment. 
• Maintains a clean and safe work environment 
• General clean up, to EAA standards, of vehicles, equipment, buildings and grounds as directed. 
• Embrace and support the EAA mission and perform safe practices in the workplace and aviation environment. 
• All other duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 
• Must be currently enrolled in a college program with any combination of education and experiences that provide the appropriate knowledge, skills and abilities.
• Entry level in a related field or at least two years’ experience, or an equivalent combination of both.
• A valid license. 
• Ability to perform manual labor, lift up to 75 lbs., standing or sitting for extended periods of time, bending, twisting, pushing, and pulling 
• Work involves exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises. 
• Professional attitude. Ability to represent EAA in a professional, enthusiastic manner.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Knowledge in all fundamental areas of mechanical maintenance and repairs
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Basic skills in Microsoft Office tools, including Word, Excel and Outlook 
• Ability to work in a cooperative work environment with multiple of departments and personal
• Work in an environment with multiple conflicting priorities

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to perform manual labor, lift up to 75 lbs occasionally, standing and walking for extended periods of time while bending, squatting, kneeling, twisting, push and pull motions. Work above ground on irregular surfaces. May have exposure to outside weather elements, noise, dust, grease, smoke, fumes, gases, pesticides and/or fertilizers.
