Intern - Active Ceramics Value Stream - Technical Undergraduate Co-op

What Your Job Will Be Like

We are seeking a Co-op - Technical Undergraduate Intern to join our dynamic team! This CO-OP Position is scheduled to be from June 2021 through December 2021.
On any given day, you may be called on to:
  • Complete a project to advance development efforts.
  • Become familiar with the production lines and requirements of the ceramic components.
  • Participate in the development of new processes, testers and products.

Posting Duration

Qualifications We Require

You bring the confidence and skills to be eligible for the job by meeting these minimum requirements:
  • Undergraduate student at a related accredited university
  • Enrolled full time in the term immediately preceding the internship
  • Registration with the university's co-op office
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0
  • Ability to work up to 40 hours per week
  • U.S. citizenship

Qualifications We Desire

  • Enrollment in a university and working towards an Engineering or Science degree with demonstrated high academic achievement
  • Excellent organizational, communication and teaming skills
  • Strong desire to perform national security development work with a production focus
  • Experience with ceramic materials and processing
  • Experience working in a production environment
  • Motivated to learn new processes and technologies
  • Ability to learn quickly and handle multiple work assignments

The Active Ceramics Value Stream at Sandia National Laboratories provides active ceramic elements for the Nuclear Weapons Enterprise with demonstrated value, performance, and confidence that meet customer delivery schedules. Also, the department provides a broad range of options for fabricating and machining ceramic, glass, and glass-ceramic components. Our capabilities range from chemical synthesis of powders, powder processing, billet formation and machining, component assembly, fabrication and testing. Security Clearance
