Transportation Analyst Intern

Summary
Responsible for working closely with the Operations team to develop a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) using established stop sequence information to correct customer sequencing and reduce hours/miles driven while ensuring safety compliance/customer satisfaction. You will also work with the team to reduce lease costs by returning unneeded equipment and identify unprofitable routes using a simple assessment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Duties include but not limited to:
  • Be a role model in projecting and applying The Pacific Group Diamond Philosophy (Productivity, Quality, Excellence and Teamwork) and promote teamwork at all times.
  • Become familiar with operations and transportation functions.
  • Observe truck loading procedures
  • Become familiar with all aspects of routing and telematics programs
  • Generate data for analysis to improve internal efficiencies and maximize profitability
  • Implement changes to procedures and measure successes
  • Prepare project overview and present findings to executive leadership
  • Perform other duties, as assigned.

Qualifications
The requirements listed below are representative of the qualifications necessary to successfully perform the job.

Education and Experience
Required:
  • Pursuit of an undergraduate degree or graduate degree
  • Degree in Operations or Logistics Management

Preferred:
  • Targeted graduation of June 2021 or earlier
  • Quick learner able to navigate the fast pace of the industry
  • Ability to conceptualize processes from start to finish with strong analytic and synthesizing skills.
