Substitute / Guest Teachers
At Richfield Public Schools, we know that substitute teachers can have a major impact on student performance in our schools. We are committed to hiring teachers with a current Minnesota State teaching license or a two-year short call license who are willing to serve as substitutes to continue quality learning in the classroom when the regularly assigned teacher is not available. In order to be considered for a substitute position, please complete the application. Your application will then be reviewed by our human resource assistant who will contact you to set up an appointment to train you on Frontline, our automated substitute system. They will also have you complete the necessary new hire paperwork (W-4, I-9, criminal background check and direct deposit form).
Why work at Richfield Public Schools? We are going above and beyond the Minnesota Department of Education's requirements to protect our staff and students during this pandemic. On January 25th, our elementary students will start returning to school on-site. Here are some of the additional steps we're taking to help keep everyone safe and healthy:
- Face masks and shields are provided to staff
- Clear barriers can be provided in the classroom to enhance social distancing
- Masks are required on school buses at all times
- Free on-site saliva testing will be offered to our staff in schools (including substitutes) every two weeks
We are located in the heart of the Twin Cities Metropolitan area and serve a diverse student population in Richfield and the surrounding communities. Our District serves approximately 4,200 students. We are located just south of Minneapolis and border Edina and Bloomington.
Salary schedule:
Full Day:
- $135/day - Licensed Teachers and Limited Short Call Subs first year in Richfield
- $145/day - Licensed Teacher and Limited Short Call Subs who worked more than 30 days in the prior school year
Half Day:
- $85/day - Licensed Teachers and Limited Short Call Subs first year in Richfield
- $95/day - Licensed Teacher and Limited Short Call Subs who worked more than 30 days in the prior school year
Friday Full Day:
$150/day - Licensed Teachers and Limited Short Call Subs first year in Richfield
- $160/day - Licensed Teacher and Limited Short Call Subs who worked more than 30 days in the prior school year
Friday Half Day:
- $95/day - Licensed Teachers and Limited Short Call Subs first year in Richfield
- $105/day - Licensed Teacher and Limited Short Call Subs who worked more than 30 days in the prior school year
Checks are issued on the 5th and 20th of the month (after a one-month delay). All work performed on the 1st-15th of the previous month will be paid on the 5th; work performed on the 16th-31st of the previous month will be paid on the 20th.
Richfield uses the AESOP substitute teacher calling system.
