Software Engineer

Manufacturing Process Control Systems Engineer needed to support Arconic's North American Aerospace and Automotive Products Business Unit. AAP produces the widest variety of aluminum sheet and plate products in the world. Our aluminum is the foundation for many products serving customers in aerospace and automotive systems and distribution.
 
Duties & Responsibilities of this role include:
  • Maintain and develop software systems utilized to control manufacturing processes. These software systems control the operation of our production machinery and are integral to production, quality, and safety;
  • Design and implement new process control systems as driven by new product development for the facility as well as modifications to existing processes;
  • Perform system upgrades to keep current with hardware and software that is still supported by the manufacturer or developer;
  • Maintain the upkeep of process control computers, software licensing agreements, and backups of software files to minimize downtime of manufacturing equipment;
  • Provide formatted data to the technical and process groups as requested;
  • Timely access to this data essential for the plant’s quality management program and rapid problem solving;
  • Solve quality and production issues associated with process control systems and develop software to diagnose quality and manufacturing issues;
  • Interact with vendors and consultants to pursue high quality equipment and services as it relates to process control systems;
  • Provide process control systems support for plant operations. This support will include analyzing, designing, installing, configuring, maintaining and repairing network, server, security, and desktop network infrastructure on all levels of process computer environments, with a focus on Level 2 and 3 environments;
  • Provide support and on call functions to assist in advanced troubleshooting as required to minimize downtime of production operations;
  • Willing to continually expand working knowledge and application of new hardware, software and programming techniques through training, vendor contacts and published media information.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Management Information Systems; or Electrical Engineering with a Minor in Management Information Systems (MIS) or Computer Science from an accredited institution;
  • This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status. ITAR defines U.S. person as an U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. ‘Green Card Holder’), Political Asylee, or Refugee;
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
