City Administrator - Delavan, WI - Pop. 8,270

Delavan is seeking a dynamic and proven municipal leader who will replace the retiring city administrator who has served the community for 9+ years. The City is a progressive and growing community located in southeastern Wisconsin in close proximity to Milwaukee, Madison and Janesville with downtown Chicago only 90 minutes away. Delavan has a bustling downtown, two lakes (Comus and Delavan), business parks and is a regional market center. It is home to the Wisconsin School for the Deaf as well as the historic Lake Lawn Resort. The City is a full service community that prides itself on being a great place to live, work, play, learn and visit as well as for providing high quality municipal services. It combines a small town quality of life with the amenities of large metro areas in close proximity. Salary range $91-$119K plus excellent benefits, DOQ.  Mayor and six City Council members elected on a non-partisan basis for two-year terms.  $7.5M General Fund Annual Operating Budget (including Library) with separate annual Enterprise Fund Budgets (Sewer, Water, Golf Course and Water Sports) Debt Service, and TID ( including  2 existing and one in the process of being created ) totaling another $6.8M. 2021 Capital Budget and Special Revenue Funds Total $7.6M.  58 FT and 160+PT, seasonal and volunteer fire employees. Future emphasis on Comprehensive Plan implementation; Information Technology Plan implementation (including community broadband and smart road technologies); creation of TID #6; development of more residential affordable housing; continuation of business park development; City sustainability initiatives and development of Community Strategic Plan.  

Require Bachelor’s Degree in public or business administration or related field; prefer Master’s Degree with five (5) years of progressive municipal management experience.  ICMA-CM credential is a plus. Residency is encouraged. Desire a strong skill set in financial management including budget development/monitoring; capital improvement planning and implementation; economic development facilitation with an emphasis on downtown redevelopment and citywide commercial development; intergovernmental relations; community marketing and the ability to cultivate positive and productive relationships with the city council, staff, business community and citizens.  The successful candidate should have a high level of both personal and professional integrity; have a collaborative style in carrying out Council policies; strong listening and communication skills; experience working in a diverse and multi-cultural community along with being a team-builder in addressing community issues/problems.   Visit the community website at www.ci.delavan.wi.us for community profile and more detailed information.
