Summary

The Peer Support Specialist assists youth and adults with substance use recovery, behavioral health and social needs. This position supports the clinical team in creating a trauma-informed, safe, trusting, and healing environment that respects the perspective of the patients they support. This position follows the scope of practice, core competencies and code of ethics and is valuable to the success of a drug addiction program.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED-Required
Educational requirements apply to any new hire after 6/1/2014. Incumbents are held to the education standard at time of hire and will be exempt from the above requirement and given credit for experience as long as they are able to demonstrate knowledge and ability to perform job duties based on the local entity’s ongoing assessment of competency.
Peer Support Specialist Certification-Required
Valid state driver's license and must be insurable to operate hospital vehicles-Required
Certificate, license, and registration requirements apply to any new hire after 6/1/2014. Incumbents are held to the standard at time of hire and will be exempt from the above requirement.
