Project Coordinator/Family Advocacy Case Manager

POSITION: Project Coordinator/Family Advocacy Case Manager Red Cliff FVP Specialized Services Demonstration Project
LOCATION: Red Cliff Family & Human Services Department WAGE: $23.00/hour, 40 hours/week, Plus Benefits
SUPERVISOR: Family Violence Prevention Program Director & Family & Human Services Administrator
THIS IS A REGULAR FULL-TIME NON-EXEMPT POSITION
JOB SUMMARY: The Family Advocate/Project Coordinator ensures a safe, comfortable environment for child survivors and non-abusing parent fleeing domestic violence by using a Trauma Informed & Survivor-Centered Care Approach. This position provides safety planning, services and support to youth survivors and their non-abusing parent, during their time they are receiving services with the Family Violence Prevention Program.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Client/Social Services:
1. Provides professional knowledge of evidence-based concepts, principles, procedures and practices for survivors of domestic and sexual violence and their children.
2. Develops methods, approaches, and procedures to meet program requirements and children's needs.
3. Responsible for crisis intervention, assessment, and service implementation for children.
4. Provides advocacy, safety planning, and case management services for children and their non-abusing parents (if needed).
5. Conducts intake with parents and provides educational material to parents regarding the program.
6. Coordinates appropriate services for clients with Family Violence Prevention Staff and/or Advocates.
7. Coordinates with the other Advocates regarding services provided, group activities, and curriculum development.
8. Assists with Child Protective Orders as needed.
9. Refers individuals (children and adolescents) to appropriate community resources for additional assistance and counseling.
10. Spends time with children (on an individual basis if possible) in an effort to support the development of establishing trust and building positive adult/child relationship skills.
11. Conducts and assists with psychoeducational classes/intervention groups and other children’s programming groups for children.
12. Facilitates a parenting group for the non-abusing parents with children to educate parents on the effects of witnessing domestic violence as a child.
13. Collaborates with community businesses to obtain recreation passes for family summertime activities.
14. Follows state and federal laws on victim confidentiality.
15. Must be able to work within a team atmosphere and bring compassion to work.

Management and Collaboration:
16. Attend and participate in regularly scheduled team, case management, and staff meetings.
17. Some travel and occasional weekend days and evenings required.

Grant and Contract Compliance:
18. Maintain grant contract compliance and participate in required trainings.
19. Collect needed service and outcome statistics for grant reports.

Essential Functions/Skills:
20. Group counseling and facilitation skills are essential. These include effective communication, conflict resolution, problem solving, and crisis management.
21. Excellent ability to assess a situation and intervene appropriately and effectively.
22. Effectively listen to and understand information and ideas as presented verbally.
23. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where limited standardization exists.
24. Responds empathetically to primary and secondary victims of crime to reduce levels of trauma and provide support during crisis intervention.
25. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in various forms.
26. Ability to relate positively to persons who are diverse in age, ethnicity, socioeconomic levels, beliefs, and lifestyles.
27. Ability to read, interpret, and communicate regarding documents such as safety rules, procedure manuals, and regulations.
28. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from clients, regulatory agencies, or members of the community.
29. Good organizational, communication, computer skills and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously is required.
30. Must communicate clearly in both verbal and written formats.

KNOWLEDGE: Possess awareness of the unique issues relating to Family/domestic violence and/or sexual assault in a Native American community. Understand victim issues, rights, and services. Understand legal issues regarding domestic violence and sexual assault. The successful candidate must possess adequate working knowledge of computers, word processing, and desktop publishing. Have a working understanding of the rules and ethics of maintaining confidentiality.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Experience in direct social service with knowledge in sexual violence, domestic violence, women's issues, human and child development, and working with families in crisis, preferred.
2. Bachelor’s Degree in social sciences or related field or equivalent experience, preferred.
3. A minimum of one-year experience in direct social service with knowledge in sexual violence, domestic violence, women's issues, human and child development, and working with families in crisis, preferred.
4. Must pass a background investigation check (BCI).
5. Must have a valid driver’s license, vehicle and appropriate vehicle coverage and maintain driver’s eligibility as a condition of employment. Be eligible to be put on the tribe’s vehicle insurance policy.
SUPERVISORY AUTHORITY: Supervision of the Program Assistant/Family Advocate
PERSONAL CONTACTS: Considerable daily contact will be made with the general public, tribal leadership, Program Directors and staff, consultant(s), and the Tribal Community.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to lift at least 25 pounds. There will be some bending, stooping, lifting, carrying, and reaching in overhead storage or shelving, but mostly sedentary work.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: All Tribal Buildings are smoke free.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: The ability to travel and attend meetings and trainings; overnight and out of town, both locally & nationally.

The Red Cliff Tribal Council has a Drug Free Workplace Policy and adheres to the intent of the Drug Free Workplace Act. All new hires are subject to a drug test prior to starting.

EMPLOYEE BENEFITS PACKAGE - FULL-TIME EMPLOYEES THE EMPLOYEE BENEFITS PACKAGE INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING:
1. A Health Insurance Plan which is through the Federal Employee Health Benefits (FEHB). FEHB is offered for both single and family coverage. Employees considered to be full time status will be required to pay 12% of the premium for the plan selected.
2. The Dental package is through Delta Dental. This benefit is offered at no cost to the employees with single or family medical coverage.
3. Short Term Disability is offered to all employees at no cost and pays 60 % of weekly pay for a maximum of 90 days if you get sick or injured off the job.
4. Life insurance of $15,000 is included at no cost to all employees. Spouses are covered at $7,500.00 and children are prorated. Employees can purchase additional life insurance from the plan provider at their own cost.
5. Profit Sharing Plan with a 401(k) component is offered to employees after one year of work, with a minimum of 1000 hours. The Tribe puts 3% of employee’s wages into the Profit Sharing Plan.
6. The Tribe also offers General Leave to Full time employees. Employees will accrue 16 hours of General Leave per month and can accumulate up to 192 hours per year. After 5 years of employment, General Leave goes up to 20 hours per month with a maximum of 240 hours.
7. The Tribe observes a total of 11 paid holidays.
