This internship offers a student the opportunity to do design work for the Display gardens at Bailey Nursery. While the Intern’s major responsibility will be in the gardens, there will also be an opportunity to learn how new varieties are trialed to be selected for the market. Student will have the opportunity to meet with all departments at the Nord Farm facility, including greenhouses, production and shipping.
Duties:
1. Work on garden design, creating a welcoming landscape for Bailey customers and garden enthusiasts who tour our facilities.
2. Create plant combinations
3. Maintenance of the landscape, Weeds, mulch, mowing, pruning, installation
4. Garden structures and creating color in the landscape.
5. Irrigation principles and water features.
6. Care for a variety of garden styles: rain garden, pollinator area, naturalized no mow area, vignettes, hedging plants & display.
Skills:
- Must have knowledge of trees and shrubs and perennials
- Mature student who can be self-directed
- Good communicator
- Must be able to demonstrate knowledge of good design principles
- Available to work Mid May through August.
