Stadium Operations and Management Internship

About the Organization:
The Eau Claire Express begin their 16th year in the summer collegiate Northwoods League. The Northwoods League is comprised of teams of the top college players from across North America. Each team is operated similar to a professional minor league team, providing development opportunities to players, front office staff members, interns and coaches. The Express are operated similarly to other Northwoods League teams in that their players use wooden bats, experience long road trips and overnight stays and play nightly in front of thousands of fans. The Eau Claire Express play at Carson Park located in Eau Claire, Wisconsin.

About the Position:
The Stadium Operations interns will work closely with the City of Eau Claire, General Manager and Director of Food and Beverage in ensuring Carson Park is prepared for the numerous events held on a daily basis. They will also be tasked with managing part-time staff, inventory levels, and food costs. A full description of this position is listed below. This position starts mid-May and ends mid-August 2021. 

Position reports to: 
Jacob Servais, General Manager

Duties:
  •  Assist Director of Food and Beverage with ordering and inventory control of all concession food, beverage and supplies
  • Manage summer stadium staff at Carson Park 
  • Assist with interviewing and hiring if needed 
  • Supervise and delegate tasks during games 
  • Schedule part-time staff for Express games and all other events at stadium 
  • Discipline when needed 
  • Create and maintain employee databases 
  • Track and submit all payroll hours for part-time staff 
  • Oversee setup of stadium for Express games 
  • Unlock all areas of the stadium 
  • General cleanup if needed 
  • Direct other interns on setup duties 
  • Supervision of fan deck 
  • Direct fan deck food prep and bartending staff 
  • Manage food preparation and waste control 
  • Ensure efficient operation of fan deck operation 
  • Maintain a high level of customer service 
  • Stadium security 
  • Cater to all groups in attendance 
  • Monitor inventory levels of food and beverage and keep all items stocked properly 
  • Assist with cutting of staff 
  • Supervision of concession stand 
  • Delegate tasks to part-time staff 
  • Manage food preparation and waste control 
  • Ensure efficient operation of main concession stand 
  • Maintain high level of customer service 
  • Monitor inventory levels of food and beverage and keep all items stocked properly 
  • Assist with cutting of staff 
  • Cleanliness of Carson Park 
  • Regularly clean counters, floors and equipment in main concession stand 
  • Clean Fan Deck and maintain cleanliness throughout summer 
  • Repair any equipment that is not functional or place service calls to vendors to repair 
  • Ensure staff completes nightly checklist to minimize cleaning duties on “off days” 
  • Cleanup of stadium after Express games 
  • Direct part-time staff and interns on cleanup duties 
  • Ensure all valuable items are secured 
  • Assist with garbage pickup and other general cleanup 
  • Secure all areas of stadium after game 
  • Ensure all areas of Carson Park are clean and organized between home games
  • Receive, rotate and put away all deliveries at the park
  • Ticket sales 
  • Opportunity to earn commission on group outing sales 
  • Assist with walk-up and phone sales at the office 
  • Serve as on-site manager of stadium for non-Express events for additional wages 
  • Unlock all necessary stadium areas for event 
  • Supervise and work in concession stand during event 
  • Secure stadium at completion of event 
  • Maintain strong relationship with all vendors
  • Laundry
  • Other duties as assigned

Expectations/Qualifications:
  • Demonstrates strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to move and lift various products that weight up to 160.5lbs
  • Experience with grills, fryers and coolers preferred, but not required 
  • Ability to problem solve and manage multiple task at once in a fast paced environment 

The Express has a history of staff development, with previous full-time interns moving on to positions with other organizations including: Milwaukee Brewers Ticket Sales Representative, Texas Tech University Assistant Ticket Manager, Reno Aces (Arizona Diamondbacks AAA Affiliate) Sr. Director of Corporate Partnerships and Minnesota Twins New Business Development Representative.
