Semiconductor Device Modeling Intern

Located in Malibu, California, HRL has been on the leading edge of technology, conducting pioneering research and advancing the state of the art.
Education Desired:
Current graduate or exceptional undergraduate student in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Materials Science, or related discipline.

Essential Job Functions:
Develop and use simulation tools for one or more of quantum state evolution, electronic structure calculations, and semiconductor device design. Participate in the development of physical models and
appropriate numerical simulations of materials and devices for electron-spin-based qubit systems. Effectively present ideas and results in technical presentations, write research reports, and collaborate and communicate with team members.

Experience and Knowledge Desired:
Coursework or equivalent experience in semiconductor and/or solid state physics, quantum mechanics, scientific computing, numerical analysis, high performance computing, and physics-based modeling. Application of scientific software to problems of scientific and technological interest. Knowledge of Python and/or C++ highly desirable.

Essential Physical/Mental Requirements:
Ability to spend extended periods of time at a computer monitor. Excellent problem solving skills. Excellent written and verbal communications skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced heterogeneous team
environment.

Special Requirements:
U.S. citizenship is required.
This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a "U.S. Person" as defined by 22 C.F.R. ยง 120.15 is required. "U.S. Person" includes U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
