Fluid Transfer Systems Internship

Job Summary: The Cooper Standard Sealing Systems Engineering Team in Auburn Hills MI has an exciting chance for an Intern to provide support for the Summer 2021.  This position will provide you with an opportunity to understand and support the Cooper Standard side of engineering responsibilities and processes. You will be responsible, with support from the Lead Program Engineer and Program team, to understand part math and drawing releases to create and track customer work orders, Test samples, validation results, test consolidation, and participate in research projects that could help influence cost and time savings. 
 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:  
  • Partner with the program team to understand math and drawing releases in Team Center and PLM
  • Develop understanding of customer work orders for the release of designs, cost and timing, design/drawing updates, building work orders and temporary work orders throughout the program
  • Learn to generate PBOM’s for program parts
  • Participate in internal program open issue meetings
  • Participate in program design reviews
  • Attend customer Engineering and Design meetings
  • Initiate and track LTR’s for DV testing
  • Work with test engineers to help support DV testing
  • Support customer build events
  • May, on occasion, be required to perform duties other than those specified in this description
  • Must be willing to work overtime as needed and directed by manager
 
Requirements: 
  • Must have met the credit requirements to achieve Senior level student status prior to May 2021, pursuing a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, with interest in Materials, Fluid Dynamics, or other closely related Engineering field 
  • Must have a minimum 3.0 G.P.A. 
  • CAD Software knowledge  
  • Excellent Communication and Interpersonal skills 
  • Self-motivated 
  • Must be able to work at our Auburn Hills, Michigan location 
  • Strong knowledge, skills, and abilities in the following areas: 
  • Problem solving and decision making 
  • Problem identification 
  • Computer and electronics skills 
  • Ability to organize, plan, and complete multiple tasks 
  • Possess excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills 
 
Preferred Qualifications: 
  • Critical Thinking: Using logic and reason to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems 
  • Lab experience or prior Internship experience using a CAD Software is highly preferred 
  • Minimum G.P.A. of 3.4 is preferred 
  • Worked with SAE
  • Conducted or experience with DVP&Rs
  • Conducted or experience with DFMEAs
 
Work Environment/Conditions: 
  • Professional Office Environment 
  • Must wear proper PPE while on manufacturing floor 
  • Travel to manufacturing facilities or customer locations when needed
