Project Management and Business Development Internship


The Cooper Standard Applied Material Science (AMS) Team in Livonia, MI has an exciting chance for an Intern to provide support for their Summer 2021 Program. This position will provide you with an opportunity to develop system tools for change management process, develop parts matrix and Bill of Materials (BOM) change level documents, identify key deliverables in each phase of AMS Process Map and gain an increased knowledge of Material Processing. If selected, you will interface with Program Management, Sales, Engineering, Product Launch Process, internal and customer reviews, as well as current material science technologies, both in the lab and at the plant facility.   

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:  

  • Develop tools and a system to track scope changes for AMS projects, support PLM and SAP teams 
  • Participate in weekly Program reviews and track project deliverables using open issues list 
  • Develop standardized templates for component and system level parts matrix 
  • Identify BOM requirements for different industries; create matrix of customer needs (drawings, SDS sheet, etc) 
  • Create deliverables for different industries and overlay on AMS process map; identify key customer and AMS Gate deliverables for product launch requirement; conduct gap analysis 
  • May, on occasion, be required to perform duties other than those specified in this description. 
 
Requirements: 

  • Must have met the credit requirements to achieve Senior level student status prior to May 2021, pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Marketing Management, Business Administration, Business Management, Entrepreneurship, Program Management, Market Research, Organizational Leadership, or related field 
  • Must have a minimum 3.0 G.P.A.  
  • Must be able to work from our Livonia, Michigan location 
  • Strong verbal, written, analytical and interpersonal skills 
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications 
  • Must have positive attitude and good work ethic 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office tools, including Word, Excel, Teams and Outlook. 
  • Strong knowledge, skills, and abilities in the following areas: 
  • Problem solving and decision making 
  • Problem identification 
  • Computer and electronics skills 
  • Ability to organize, plan, and complete multiple tasks 
  • Possess excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills 
 
Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Critical Thinking: Using logic and reason to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems 
  • MS Project is a plus 
  • Great leadership skills are a plus 
  • Knowledge of quantitative analysis is a plus 
 
Work Environment/Conditions: 
  • Professional Office Environment 
  • Must wear proper PPE while on manufacturing floor 
  • Travel to manufacturing facilities or customer locations when needed
